FTP Upload
Going live now? Whichever host you prefer, they should send you an email with this information
(a) ftp hostname/IP address (b) username (c) password.
To upload your files (graphics , html, .class, etc.) you need to have an FTP software. The one I am showing here is WS_FTP PRO Version 7.6, if you have an older version try to update it or follow the info on here but the images may differ. You can get the program at this site. http://fosisoft.home.ro (Beware of the images on this site.) As you see there is your local server which is your harddrive and remote server for your online space you have at your host. For the first time you run the software, it will prompt you for the information above. First click on my sites then click on create site. (see image below).

- Profile Name = Any descriptive name
- Host Name/Address = Your FTP Site's Hostname or IP address
(ex. ftp.server.com -or- 192.168.0.1)
- Host Type = Leave as default (Automatic Detect)
- Username = your user name
- password = your password
- Account = optional
Once you have the create site clicked another popup will come up, The Profile Wizard. There you will put your the name of your new site profile and what folder you want it in. I just use MySites for the folder. Then click next. (see image below)
The next popup you will put in your host name/domain name or IP Address. Do not put in the http://www with your Host name. Then click next. (see image below)
.
The next pop-up you will put in your User ID, Password, check save password and save account then click next twice. (see image below)
.Keep the Host type to Automatic detect and check Passive Mode then Finish. (see image below)

Now that you have the site set up with your user id and password you are ready to upload your files. The major key to having a successful harddrive and remote/online server, is ORGANIZATION. So you know where items are when you get ready to find them. When you want to upload to the remote server you need to find the file you want on the local server then click on it to highlight it. Then you will click on the green arrow to upload the file to your remote server. In order to download an item from your remote/online server. You will find the file you want, click on it to highlight it then click on the green arrow pointing to the left to download the item to your local server. (See image below)
